Hopeful is the 3rd song in what I personally call the Progression Series (along with Yesterday and Hopeful). The series is called as such because a) all songs in the series have the same chord progression, and b) it has a seasonal theme, and seasons progress through the year, something like that ✨

Ah... the one that started it all 🥹

Even now, I still remember how this song came to be. Back when the Internet was fairly new, and everywhere outside of the usual Facebook, Youtube, and Friendster was considered scary for kids. Around this time, I was very obsessed with VOCALOID since their collab with Ameba Pico, a Facebook game that shut down months after said collab. Wait, this could be a shrine idea, but anyway...

This was the time that I tried venturing out to those scary places, and I ended up in the VocaloidOtaku.net (rip). I got banned for being underage, though 😂

So I ended up in Tumblr of all places!! I followed VOCALOID blogs that shared originals, and that's where I stumbled upon UTAU! Imagine my surprise when I found out that not only you can make you own VOCALOID (kinda), but also that it's free. You mean I don't need to sail the seven seas to make a cute robot girl sing for me? That's so cool!

But before I started to make a song, I looked around first to see if there were other people making songs for UTAU. And there was! A lot even. I stumbled upon RorunaK/Pianobench, Lystrialle, MystSaphyr, Dysto-P, heck even Crusher had UTAU Originals! So there WERE others making them! I wanna make songs too!

I still remember being scared of having to change our PC's locale just to make UTAU work. Also the CMD window that pops up whenever you had to render the vocals. Ah, good times 😌

Still, it's funny how such enthusiasm resulted in a pretty emotionally-charged song😂 Like where did you get all this heartbreak from? It'll just get worse from this point I fear 😭

By the way, this song is gonna have a remake soon, alongside the other song in the Progression series! I just haven't got the inspiration to start with this, and the bad Google Translate lyrics are giving me weak knees, but we'll see!
